Normally, I don't like short stories...I like to lose myself in a full fledged novel and forget everything else. I talked to Anne Carpenter on Twitter and decided to give one of her short stories, her favorite one, a try. I was pleasantly surprised!What a ride this one was! While it was short, it was jam packed with deceit, betrayal and revenge. Lots of fun! What an unbelievably ironic ending too...did NOT see that coming! I really liked this and hope to read some more from Ms. Carpenter!!

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoy a plot twist. It's definitely a smooth read and easy read.
This was a true short story. I loved it. Yes, it has a twist. Made me chuckle. Would love to read more stories from this author.
Unusual twist in this short story which made it worth reading in the end. Thought was put in to how the ending of this one should go.
A delightful story about an all to oft scenario, a cheating husband plotting to dump his wife. His major problem...his wife found out about it and made plans of her own. She devised a well planned and executed setting for his demise, however, in this case, "the Devil was in the details. A delightful short story, that I am happy to have read.
Joy's riches could not overcome her insecurity or her dominating personality; either of which is detrimental to a relationship. Together those two traits steered Joy to an undesirable end. I downloaded "Hidden Intent" last night, and enjoyed reading it. I can usually anticipate the ending; but Anne Carpenter added an unexpected twist. Nice touch.
I was hooked from the first page. The story grabbed my interest, held my interest, and had a great twist at the end. I don't read a lot of short stories but I loved this. Even though it was short it was packed with suspense and was a complete story.
A wonderful suspense, filled with intrigue. The rich young heiress, and her sumptuous trust fund - how would she defend herself against her husband's infidelity? How could she get her revenge on this ungrateful, sneaky husband of her's? One would have expected that the husband would be the one to kill the wife, and then the plot turns to the two of them being surrounded by all their friends. So many witnesses, for... What, a birthday party? Why was she hiding a knife? Did she really think she could get away with murder? Then, the surprise ending wonderful. I give it five stars.
